Website Performance Assessment

Are your customers complaining that your website is too slow? Are you worried that your site could be hacked and your customer information leaked?

Google’s SEO ranking algorithm takes both speed and security into account, and customers generally lose interest after a few seconds.

While it is relatively easy to make a WordPress website look good, there are also many factors that can detract from a satisfactory experience. Designers are skilled at making slick websites, but very often they don’t understand the nuts and bolts of the underlying infrastructure.

I provide a specialised form of technical consulting to understand why your website is slow, and how to remedy it.

Onboarding Interview

Once you’ve purchased the Website Performance Assessment package, you will receive an email to set up an initial 30min onboarding appointment. In this session we will discuss a number of items to ensure that you understand our scope of work, and responsibility. If you feel dissatisfied with the outcome of our discussion, you may request a full refund, no questions asked.

Website Performance Assessment

Once you are satisfied with the onboarding interview, I will commence with the Website Performance Assessment to understand what factors are contributing to your slow website, and identify possible remedies. You will get a comprehensive improvement plan that describes specific actions to be taken. Typical recommended improvements may include:

  • Switch your hosting from shared hosting to a Virtual Private Server (VPS)
  • Compress images
  • Technical configuration (DNS, web server, database server etc)
  • Eliminating and replacing slow plugins
  • Adopting a Content Delivery Network (CDN).

Each of my recommendations will be ranked in terms of cost of implementing and the potential impact on performance. We will then have a 1-2 hour feedback session where I describe the issues, and what is required to fix.

If you need help with improvements, I will provide you with indicative costing which you may discuss with your designers (they may be able to implement these too).

A few points:

  • I am not a website designer and cannot possibly make websites look good. Instead, I will work with your existing designers to find a workable solution. If your designers have abandoned you, I will help you find a suitable replacement.
  • I will make recommendations (like suggesting that you sign up for
